CORPORATE WELL-BEING INDEX

A well-being index is a measure used to quantify an individual’s fitness status. These indices incorporate various health and fitness parameters, providing a comprehensive assessment of a client’s overall fitness.

Here’s a breakdown of what a standard well-being index conducted at TEMPO will include:

Body Composition

  1. Body Weight: Body weight refers to the total mass of an individual’s body, typically measured in kilograms (kg). This measurement includes the cumulative weight of all body components, including bones, muscles, fat, organs, fluids, and other tissues. Body weight is a key indicator of overall health and is often used to assess an individual’s nutritional status, physical fitness, and potential health risks.
  2. Body Water: Body water refers to the total amount of water contained in the tissues, organs, and cavities of the human body. Body water accounts for a significant portion of body weight, typically ranging from 50% to 70% depending on factors such as age, sex, and body composition.
  3. Bone Mass: Bone mass refers to the total amount of bone tissue in the human body, measured as bone mineral content (BMC) or bone mineral density (BMD). This measurement is an indicator of bone strength and overall skeletal health. Bone mass is crucial for maintaining the structure and function of the skeleton, which supports and protects vital organs, enables movement, and stores essential minerals like calcium and phosphorus.
  4. Body Mass Index (BMI): Body Mass Index (BMI) is a numerical value derived from a person’s weight and height. This measurement is commonly used as a screening tool to categorize individuals into different weight categories that may indicate whether they are underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese based on their weight and height.
  5. Body Age: Body age, also known as an individual’s biological age, refers to a measure of how well or poorly your body is functioning relative to your actual chronological age. Unlike chronological age, which is simply the number of years you have lived, body age considers various health and fitness factors to estimate the physical condition of your body.
  6. Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR): Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) refers to the amount of energy expended by the body at rest to maintain basic physiological functions necessary for life including breathing, circulation, cell production, nutrient processing, and temperature regulation. Basal Metabolic Rate is usually measured in calories per day.

Muscle Analysis

  1. Skeletal Muscle Mass: Skeletal muscle mass refers to the total amount of muscle attached to the bones in the human body, enabling movement and supporting posture. These muscles are under voluntary control, meaning they can be consciously contracted and relaxed to perform various physical activities. Skeletal muscle mass is a critical component of overall body composition and plays a significant role in metabolic health, strength, and functional capacity.
  2. Segmental Muscle Mass: Segmental muscle mass refers to the measurement of muscle mass in specific regions or segments of the body. Unlike overall muscle mass, segmental muscle mass provides a detailed analysis of how muscle is distributed across different parts of the body, such as the arms, legs, trunk, and specific muscle groups. This type of assessment can offer insights into muscle imbalances, asymmetries, and targeted areas for improvement in fitness and rehabilitation programs.

Fat Analysis

  1. Body Fat Percentage: Body fat percentage refers to the proportion of fat mass in relation to total body weight. This measurement quantifies the amount of fat tissue in the body relative to lean tissue (muscle, bone, water, organs, etc.). Body fat percentage provides a more accurate assessment of body composition compared to body weight alone, as it considers the distribution of fat throughout the body.
  2. Total Fat Mass: Total fat mass refers to the absolute amount of fat tissue present in the human body. It represents the combined weight of all adipose (fat) tissue throughout various regions and compartments of the body. Fat mass includes both essential fat (necessary for normal physiological function) and non-essential fat (excess fat stored in adipose tissue).
  3. Visceral Fat: Visceral fat, also known as intra-abdominal fat, is a type of fat tissue located deep within the abdominal cavity and around internal organs (viscera) such as the liver, pancreas, and intestines. Unlike subcutaneous fat, which lies just beneath the skin, visceral fat is stored around vital organs and is considered a metabolically active type of fat.
  4. Segmental Fat: Segmental fat refers to the distribution of fat in specific regions or segments of the body, rather than total body fat. Unlike total body fat, which provides an overall measure of fat mass in the entire body, segmental fat analysis focuses on identifying fat accumulation in individual body segments or regions. This type of assessment is valuable for understanding regional fat distribution patterns and their implications for health and fitness.

The above mentioned data collected by TEMPO will remain confidential and be used to understand the well-being status our clients.
